About the Network

The ASEAN-SEAFDEC Fish and Fish Products Safety Information Network is a Japanese Trust Fund Project of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) executed by the Marine Fisheries Research Department (MFRD). The aims of the Network is to establish a network of experts and institutions working on fish and fish products issues and collate information on levels of chemical, drug and pesticide residues in fish and fish products and government legislation and management policies with regards to fish and fish products safety.

This website will serve as a central database to make the information accessible to all and provide sound science based information for countries in ASEAN region to help make a common stand with regards to fish and fish products trade issues.



Japanese Trust Fund (JTF) II End-of-Project Meeting, 22-24 October 2008

The Marine Fisheries Research Department (MFRD) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the JTF II Program on Chemical and Drug Residues in Fish and Fish Products in Southeast Asia.
The objectives of this project were to;

  • To obtain an understanding of levels of chemical contaminants in fish and fish products in Southeast Asia.
  • To transfer technology in chemical contaminants testing in the region through setting up of methodologies and human resource training.

This project was started in 2004 with the 1st Planning Meeting held in Singapore. The Mid-Term Review Meeting was conducted in 2007 to review the project implementation.

The key project leaders of the SEAFDEC Member Countries will meet again between 22 to 24 October 2008 in Singapore to close the project as well as to discuss future programs.
